LAMP - venue for Interplay's gig on May 24thOur next gig sees Interplay back in Leamington – gosh, that’s twice in one year. The venue is LAMP – rapidly becoming established as Leamington’s new über-cool place for music. LAMP is being developed by Hybrid Arts to extend their musical and social engagement work with young people.

This is potentially the best development for live music that Continue Reading Interplay lighting up at LAMP…

Our visit to Chesterfield Jazz Club last week seems to have been a great success! There was a good and responsive audience and the band was on really fine form. But don’t just take our word for it – see what some of the audience said afterwards…

Interplay will be at Chesterfield Jazz Club on 21st February

Last night Interplay took to the stage at Leamington’s Clarendon pub and delivered to a packed house. It was hard to believe it was our first outing since June last year! Not just like riding a bike – it was refreshing and heartening to find that the long interval has done nothing to blunt the band’s emotion Continue Reading Interplay – Out to Play!…

Surprises in Swindon for Interplay

Interplay's Adrian Litvinoff on electric bassBaker Street in Swindon is hosting some fine names in British Jazz these days and it was a treat to find ourselves being well looked-after by the house team as well as the jazz night organisers.  After a longish drive and set up it was also good to see all the tables filled well before the start.

I was therefore disconcerted – putting it mildly – when my double bass pick-up proceeded to ‘die’ half-way through the second number! Hasty action with the screw-driver Continue Reading Surprises in Swindon for Interplay…

Interplay on stageIt’s almost four months since Interplay last played to a real live audience! Sign of the times I guess, with gigs becoming noticeably scarcer all around. So it is with real pleasure as well as a certain amount of relief that we announce our first appearance of 2012, next Wednesday March 14th in Leamington Spa for Leam Jazz.

Besides affording us the pleasure of playing for its own sake I take a special Continue Reading Interplay back in the land of the gigging!…

Bossa in Barca

Just back from a wonderful week with the family in Barcelona.  We did all the usual tourist things, (amazing art and architecture) and managed to get slightly under the skin of the city’s musical life too.  Continue Reading Buskers in Barcelona…

Invited by pianist and musical entrepreneur Peter Gill to check out The Venue in Leckhampton (Cheltenham) for a possible Interplay gig I reckoned I would just make it in time to catch the Rod Kelly Trio.

Long and thin – it still functions as a skittle alley in fact – The Venue proved to be inviting and comfortable with amazingly good acoustics.  Even when the band went down to a whisper – which they did frequently – one could hear everything!    This was good, because there was lots to hear… Continue Reading Definitely not skittles!…
